What's New?
Mr. Grossman presented on November 18 as part of the Public Policy Update for the National Organization for Rare Disorders’ Corporate Council Meeting. His remarks cover post-election/new Congress trends for health care and FDA. Notable among these are the changes at FDA that will come from the agency being directed to cooperate with a Democratic Congress. Also, Congressional oversight will shift from targeting the executive branch (now in Democratic hands) to industry and other third parties.
On November 6, Mr. Grossman testified before the North Carolina Medical Care Commission. His topic was: “A Statewide Hospital Indigency Policy for North Carolina: Fairer and More Fiscally Prudent.” The presentation describes an approach to dealing with unpaid hospital bills that provides consistent and fair results for patients, increases hospital revenues and simplifies “community benefit” reporting of charity care, bad debt and discounts.
Mr. Grossman continues his leadership in the campaign to increase appropriated resources for FDA. Recent activities and successes of the Alliance for a Stronger FDA are described in an updated version of his
September speech
to the American Spice Trade Association.
- Mr. Grossman made a major address to the CBI Bio/Pharmaceutical Public Policy Congress on July 15, 2008. The presentation is a broad overview of current FDA issues, combined with a look at seven issues that will shape the agency’s future.
